Hey folks! Happy almost, maybe, sort of Spring? Our last two updates have come to you in the form of a live stream, as well as our test stream where we answered several questions. Below are links to where you can watch the videos on Twitch, YouTube, and Kickstarter. There are also links to the transcripts of the question portion of the live streams.

Test for Sentinels of the Multiverse: OblivAeon Live Q&A with Christopher!

As far as updates for the shipping of OblivAeon goes, printing is almost complete and all of the products are getting ready to be packed up, loaded into cargo containers, and sent to us ASAP - as soon as we have any specific information from the ocean freight folks, we will share it with you!

A quick update! Tune in next week for a Live Stream!
about 6 years ago – Tue, Feb 06, 2018 at 10:28:21 PM

Greetings, everyone!

Today's update is brief, but crucial!

We're going to cover:

  • Shipping
  • Addresses in BackerKit
  • Live Streams

Let's get to it!

Shipping!

We finally have a locked down timetable from the printer! According to the printer and ocean freight people, we will be receiving the containers starting in May, and will continue to receive them over the course of the following couple of months! So, we will be shipping you your rewards starting in May and definitely going into June! Maybe July? We’re going to get everything out as fast as possible, but we will only be able to go as fast as we get the containers, so we’ll be operating at the whims of the ocean and the rail lines. Hope for no typhoons or derailments!

Addresses

Now that we know we’ll be getting things, it’s time for us to make thousands of shipping labels! That way, when the cargo containers start arriving, we can immediately get everything shipped out to you!

Given that plan, we need your addresses to be updated in BackerKit, if necessary. Most of you won’t need to do anything here - you’re good to go! But! If you do need to update your address, do it now!

The BackerKit addresses will be locked down at the end of day next Tuesday, February 13th. Any addresses that we have to go in and update manually after that will push back your shipment in the queue.

Just go to BackerKit and log in using the e-mail address you used to back this Kickstarter! Do it now!

Live Stream

Starting in about fifteen minutes here, I’m going to jump on a Kickstarter Live thing, just to test out how the system works. This is in preparation for next week’s Q&A Live Stream!

The Live Stream will start at 3PM CST, and run here on this Kickstarter page. If you did not Kickstart the project, no worries! You will still be able to view, and participate in the live stream - come join us! A link to the stream will go out on our Facebook and Twitter as soon as the stream begins.

Additionally, we will record the stream, and post it on all of our social media channels afterwards. We will also have a brief written summary typed up for anyone who either cannot watch the video or prefers written updates.

If you have questions you want me to answer on next week’s Live Stream, e-mail them to [email protected]. She’s collecting them and deleting all the bad ones, so don’t ask bad questions!

I hope you can join us next Tuesday, February 13th, and 3:00 Central Time for the OblivAeon Kickstarter Live Q&A!

Happy New Year! OblivAeon Status and Shipping Cases!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Jan 02, 2018 at 10:10:45 PM

Welcome to 2018, Sentinels!

Hey, everyone! What a year we had just now, right? Whew! OK, so, on to this year. It’s gonna be a good one. Truly. So much stuff. I’m going to tell you a lot of things today - some awesome, some less awesome, and some totally awesome! You’ll just have to trust me.

Let’s get into it!

Status of OblivAeon

On my end, OblivAeon is done! The proofs are all approved, and the printer has begun churning along to make ALL the cards, tokens, dividers, oversized cards, booklets… this project is huge. By the time it’s all done, this Kickstarter campaign will have produced well over ten million cards, and by well over, I mean a few more million cards beyond that. And that’s just of the standard sized cards. WOW!

Now that the presses are rolling, those millions of cards and more will all be done printing within the next 2 months, which is an impressive rate of production. Then, all that stuff will get packed into the boxes, and the boxes put in specialty cases to make the trek to us, and subsequently, to you.

Shipping Case

What’s that you say? You want me to tell you more about these specialty cases? Well, don’t mind if I do! We actually got one in the mail last week!

It's HUGE!
It's HUGE!

Whoof, that’s big. How big? 22” by 17” by 15”, actually. Real Dang Big. This case is a bit beat up, but it was mailed from China to here and only took that much damage. And then we kicked it around the warehouse a bit, too. Just being thorough, you know.

Enough abuse. Let’s open it up.

Open sesame!
Open sesame!

You can see from the edges that this case is made of double-thick cardboard. AND there’s an extra sheet of double-cardboard on top! Study stuff.

But what’s under that extra sheet?

Stuff in a box!
Stuff in a box!

Mostly white boxes, which are what physical production proofs look like. But everything is compartmentalized in more cardboard sections, on top of a thick layer of foam.

Before getting under that foam layer, let’s look at those top-layer products.

Seven products!
Seven products!

Looking good! A few of them are already done, one of them is a prototype, and the rest of are white-plate versions.

Across the top, from left to right, we have the Void Guard mini-expansion, then a stack of Benchmark and Stuntman, then a white-plate version of the Complete Hero Collection, then a prototype of the Complete Villain Collection (it looks a bit beat up from being a testing version - the final version will be much cleaner), and finally a thick pack of cards that all of the promo cards included!

Under that is a large white box. That’s OblivAeon. Let’s dig into that.

Can't you see it?
Can't you see it?

Wow! Look at all that stuff! Two books - one comic book and one rulebook, token sheets, oversized cards, the OblivAeon booklet, hundreds of cards, and even a plastic base to make OblivAeon into a cool standee thing! I’m really looking forward to getting the printed version of this.

OK, back to the case.

It's on the floor now.
It's on the floor now.

We’ve taken out all of the products on top, but there’s a big white-foam slab under the cardboard. What could it be?

Hold on, I’m gonna pull it out of the box and put it on the table. It’ll take me a minute - it’s heavy.

Whew.
Whew.

Ugh. Almost threw out my back. I’m an old man now!

Look at those thick foam corner protectors! I feel much better about kicking that case around now.

Time to peel back all the foam!

Glorious.
Glorious.

And with a protective thick plastic bag, to boot!

So, how did the Ultimate Collector’s Case finally turn out? Does it look good?

Wow.
Wow.

You bet it does.

Very excited to send this to you.

Shipping Schedule

So, with the rate the printing is going now, we are running up against the dreaded Chinese New Year. However, with the presses already going, the shipping cases will be fully created and making their way here starting early March. The ocean voyage takes at least a month, meaning we’re going to be hit HARD with a lot of cargo containers around the beginning of April. Which is awesome. We’re genuinely looking forward to it.

Now that we know the final dimensions of the shipping cases, we can tell that roughly a thousand will fit in a 40’ cargo container, meaning the games will be heading from us to you starting in April in waves of a thousand at a time. We’re keeping the pressure on the printer and the cargo freight companies to get us those containers ASAP and as many as possible at once to wrap this process up before this summer.

When the cases arrive, it will be all hands on deck here to get everything out post-haste!

New Social Media Manager

Speaking of all hands, we have a couple new ones here in the GTG HQ! I’m thrilled to introduce our new Social Media Manager, Maggie! Actually, she’s plenty good at words. I’ll just have her introduce herself:

Greetings, earthlings!
Greetings, earthlings!

Hi guys! Maggie here. I've been working on social media and marketing for the past three years and playing boardgames since the ripe young age of four years old. My first boardgame was Pretty Pretty Princess and since then my collection has grown immensely!

I'll be here to answer any and all questions, about absolutely everything. Literally all things. Sentinels of the Multiverse related or otherwise.

Folks, be kind. Please don’t ask her weird questions.

I got to meet Maggie for the first time at PAX Unplugged last year, and she impressed me right away with her quick wit and charming personality. She started working here full time a few weeks ago, and she’s a great addition to the ranks of Greater Than Games.

She’s already taken over our social media accounts, so if you interact with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, or even Snapchat, she’s the one running all of those! Also, she’ll be in the comments here on Kickstarter, as after posting this, I have to get back to writing Things for Other Upcoming Sentinel Comics Projects! Exciting stuff!

Next Time!

In February, we’ll update you with where things are in the realm of printing and shipping. We’re all hoping for good news every step of the way, but at this point, it’s out of our hands. So, for that update, what additional info would you like to hear from us? Anything you’re curious about in particular? Let us know in the comments! And be nice to Maggie!

See you next time!

Rulebook PDF and more!
over 6 years ago – Tue, Dec 05, 2017 at 11:50:20 PM

Happy Holidays, everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying their end of the year times! Yesterday, it was 70 degrees here in St. Louis, and today it’s 30 degrees, so we’re having totally normal midwestern weather, as per usual.

All files at the printer!

At this point, the printer has all of the files for OblivAeon, the promos, and the mini-expansions. It all ranges from “completely printed” to “being layed out for the printing presses”, as there’s a LOT of content to this - at least two full games’ worth, really. Once everything is running through the presses, we’ll have a reliable report from the printer about when we can expect everything to arrive in St. Louis. But it’s all in process now!

Two more deck previews!

In the comments I was called out for not showing previews of two notable decks: the Scion Deck and the OblivAeon Deck. I am ashamed. I hope these brief previews help assuage your torment.

Cards from the Scion Deck!
Cards from the Scion Deck!

Those seem pretty bad, right? Well, just you wait! It could get worse…

Cards from the OblivAeon Deck!
Cards from the OblivAeon Deck!

You didn’t have to wait long! These are WAY worse! There is no way that these cards are balanced, right? Wait, they went to print that way? Oh geeze.

The rulebook!

Want even more information about OblivAeon? We can give you that!

Here is a PDF of the OblivAeon rulebook!

(I suggest downloading it to read it - if you want to read it in the Dropbox interface, you'll want to zoom out a bunch so you can see the entire two-page spreads on everything but the front and back cover.)

Now, as you’re reading through, you might noticed some… obscured information. Look, we’ve gotta have at least a few secrets, right? Don’t worry - the print files won’t have that missing info.

Let’s talk 2018!

Our next update should have a complete schedule of when things will be leaving China, and that will give us a solid idea as to how long it’ll be until everything is shipped out to all of you. So! Look forward to starting off the year right with that information!

This journey has been a long one for all of us, but we’re very excited to have our destination in sight now! OblivAeon is coming to this reality as we speak! Wait, that’s probably a bad thing? Shoot. We should have thought this through…

Inevitable Devastation for everyone!

Web Store Confusion
over 6 years ago – Mon, Nov 27, 2017 at 09:36:35 PM

Greetings Backers!

I want to apologize for any confusion caused by the launch of our new GTG web store over the holiday weekend. For those of you who are not aware, our new web store went live last Wednesday and inaccurately reported that items from this Kickstarter were available for order (rather than preorder), and that we had 1000 of each in stock. This is definitely not true. During the development of the new website, we inadvertently neglected to change the defaults for preorder and out of stock products. That information has now been updated.

Just to re-cap, OblivAeon and other related items from this Kickstarter are not yet in stock, and any reports to the contrary on our new web store are inaccurate. We’ll post an actual timeline in an update as soon as we finish working out the details with the factory, and we apologize for this mistake!
